TITLE:
1985-86 STREET OVERLAY PROGRAM

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
CITY MGR.
Adopt Resolution No. pJ'/3 approving plans and specifications
and authorizing the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the
1985-86 Street Overlay Program.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
This is the second year of the recommended 5 year major maintenance
program. It will overlay 26 lane miles (pass miles) of our major
streets - primarily El Camino Real and La Costa Avenue. FY 85 SB 300 funds in the amount of $150,000 are included in this program
and are sufficient to overlay El Camino Real from Olivenhain Road
to La Costa Avenue. A separate contract for slurry seal ($200,000)
will be forwarded to Council in late March for approval. We
anticipate the slurry seal to be applied in May. The contracts
are being separated this year as it is believed we can obtain
lower bid prices for the overlay program if the contracts are
split.
SDecifications have been completed and are on file in the Utilities during &*Maintenance DeDartment. Work is anticipated to take place
to April and May, 1686, and should take about four (4) weeks
complete.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Project costs are approximately $ 1,103,995.00 according -0 -he
estimate. Funds are available in Account No. 001-820-5110-2410.

ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE 1985-86 STREET
OVERLAY PROGRAM, CONTRACT NO. U/M-9
WHEREAS, the specifications for the furnishings of all
labor, material, tools, equipment, transportation and other
expenses necessary and incidental for the 1985-86 Street Overlay
Program, Contract No. U/M-9,
have been prepared and are on file in the Utilities & Maintenance
Department of the City of Carlsbad and are incorporated by

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad as follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The specifications as presented are hereby
approved.
3. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized
and directed to proceed to publish, in accordance with
law, Notice Inviting Bids for the work of said contract
in accordance with said specifications.
