PLN RECOMMENDED ACTION: CITY ATTY CITY MGR.* APPROVE work program submitted by the Planning Commission. ITEM EXPLANATION At the Planning Commission/Staff Retreat held late last year, the Commission indicated a desire to establish an advance work program for 1986. At a subsequent Planning Commission meeting, the Commission discussed possible tasks for the work program and the idea of subcommittees. It was decided to recommend the following three items to the City Council €or the Planning Commission to work on, with the corresponding subcommittees: Hillside Ordinance - This is one of the programs recommended by the Citizens Committee for Review of the Land Use Element of the General Plan. Staff has started to work on this and would get input from the Planning Commission Subcommittee. Subcommittee members: Jim Smith (Chairman), Matt Hall and Bob Holmes. Review of Planned Development Ordinance - The present Planned Development Ordinance was adopted in 1980. Most of the recently proposed residential projects are utilizing the ordinance (Planned Unit Developments and Condominium Permits). Based upon the amount of experience with the ordinance, both staff and the Commission believe that the standards of the ordinance can be improved. This would appear to be an excellent time to review the ordinance since there is presently a moratorium on the acceptance of new applications for residential projects until July 20, 1986. Subcommittee Members: Kip McBane (Chairman), Matt Hall, Clarence Schlehuber. Child Day Care Amendment to General Plan - The Planning Commission believes there is a need to include policy statements in the General Plan to encourage the adequate provision of day care facilities for children in the city Subcommittee Members: Jeanne McFadden (Chairman), Mary Marcus, Jim Smith. Staff and the Planning Commission are recommending that the City Council approve the above-described advance work program for the Planning Commission for 1986. I
