U/M RECOMMENDED ACTION: TITLE PROMOTIONAL TAPE FOR THE FOUNDATION FOR CARLSBAD COMMUNITY CABLE TELEVISION View the Foundation promotional tape and discuss the Foundation's upcoming fund raiser, "TV Pursuits". ITEM EXPLANATION: The Foundation has developed a five-minute tape explaining the Foundation and encouraging grant applications. and would like to encourage Council/Staf f participation. The Foundation is planning a "telethon" FISCAL IMPACT: None. EXHIBITS : 1. Memo to City Manager from Director of Utilities & Maintenance dated March 28, 1986. I March 28, 1986 TO: CITY MANAGER FROM: Director, Utilities & Maintenance CABLE TV FOUNDATION The Cable TV Foundation has developed a five-min te promotion 1 tape to explain the purpose of the Foundation and to encourage prospective TV producers to submit applications for grant funding. I recommend that this video tape be shown to the Council in order for the members to appreciate and comment on the efforts of the Foundation. I would also bring to the Council's attention and solict participation in the Foundation's telethon entitled, "TV Pursuits", which is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, Tennis Tourney) The "game" will be composed of six teams answering TV trivia questions. matched against a team with similar backgrounds. It is anticipated that a team of high school athletes would be matched against a team of sports writers answering sports questions; the Art Commission would be matched against local artists, etc. Questions will be developed from local resources such as the Library, Historical Society, etc. The purpose of such a program is to raise funds for the Foundation. It is anticipated that some "guest hosts'' will come from the group of celebrities participating in the tennis tourney. most likely be the "Continuity Host" to tie the program together.
