RECOMMENDED ACTION:
By motion, adopt Resolution No. <£5"/V amending Contract No. 3006-3A
for Amtech Reliable Elevator Corporation to allow for additional
expenditures necessary for the construction of the Carlsbad Safety and
Service Center in the amount of $8,011.00.
ITEM EXPLANATION;
The additional cost for Contract 3006-3A, Change Order No. 2 ($8,011.00),
is for the additional costs to upgrade finish of elevator cab #1. The cost
also includes changing hall jambs and doors from baked enamel to stainless
steel. Handrail and base work to be completed by others. However, Amtech
will provide sleeve nuts or other approved method for anchoring handrail.
Changes were requested by the Police Department due to projected heavy
usage of this cab.
The above changes have been reviewed and approved by the architect,
construction manager and City staff. We will issue the change order upon
approval of the City Council. This change is critical to the timely
completion of the project.
FISCAL IMPACT
The added cost of this change order has been included in the current budget
for Phase I of the Safety Center. Funds are available in Account No. 332-
820-1810-3006.

5 WHEREAS, an additional expenditure of $8,011.00 is required for the
6 accomodation of changes to the Carlsbad Safety and Service Center; and
7 WHEREAS, the City Council has previously approved the contract for the
8 installation of elevator systems which did not include the added costs as
9 enumerated above; and
10 WHEREAS, the architect, construction manager, and City staff have
11 concluded that the additional expenses are necessary; and
12 WHEREAS, funds are available within the current budget in Account No.
13 332-820-1810-3006;
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of City of Carlsbad,
15 California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
17 2. That Change Order No. 2 in the amount of $8,011.00 for Amtech
18 Reliable Elevator Corporation is hereby approved.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City
20 Council held on the 22nd day of April , 1986 by the following vote, to wit:
