ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR HARDING STREET C~TYATTY DEPT* "W TITLE:
FLASHING BEACONS AT OAK STREET STREET PROJECT NO. 3109 CITY MG R.Z
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
By motion, adopt Resolution No. rm 3 approving plans and
specifications, authorizing the City Clerk to advertise for bids
for the installation of two (2) flashing beacons on both sides of Harding Avenue at a point about 235 feet north of and 335' south of Oak Street.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
In order to better accommodate the crossing of pedestrian
traffic, Plans and Specifications have been completed for the
above improvement.
The work to be done in general consists of the following:
Installation of two (2) Caltrans Type 9B Flashing Beacons complete on new foundation with CalTrans Type W54 Pedestrian Crossinq Signs, one CalTrans Type M Cabinet with a time clock and
flashing beacon controller assembly with a CalTrans Type I1 Electric Service fully wired and all necessary conduits, wires and other appurtenances needed to place the flashing beacon in full operation.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $25,000 were appropriated for this project
in the 85-86 Capital Improvement Program. The Engineer's estimate for the construction of this project is $12,000.

SPECIFICATIONS: AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO INVITE BIDS FOR HARDING STREET FLASHING BEACON
PEDESTRIAN SIGNALS - PROJECT NO. 3109. -

I WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has

determined it is necessary and in the public interest to

construct improvements on Harding Street; and
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the furnishing of
all labor, material, tools, equipment, transportation, and
other expenses necessary or incidental for said project,
Project No. 3109, have been prepared and are on file in the
Engineering Department of the City of Carlsbad and are
incorporated by reference herein:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. The plans and specifications as presented are hereby
approved.
3. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby
authorized and directed to proceed to publish, in accordance
with law, Notice to Contractors inviting bids for the
improvements of Harding Street in accordance with the plans
and specifications hereinabove referred to.
