and awarding Contract No. 3006-7K

accepting the low bid
Metal Lockers for the
ITEM EXPLANATION
On March 18, 1986 the City Council, upon the recommendation of
the Construction Manager, rejected all bids for Section 3006-
7K Metal Lockers. As of April 17, 1986 a sealed bid was
received, on the re-bid, by the Koll Co. and the City. The
estimate on this bid was $19,000 prior to the addition of
custom color paint and "quiet locker" specifications by the
Police Department. However, the current bid is $3,000 less
than the prior rejected bid on this item. Due to the critical
nature of this bid item from a fabrication and delivery
schedule aspect, the Construction Manager recommends the
immediate award of this bid in the amount of $26,418.00.
References have been verified on the recommended bidder,
Goodale Co. of San Diego.

Re: Carlsbad Safety Center
KCC Job #3225
Award of Contract - Bid Pac 7K
Dear Mike:
Approval by the City Council to rebid the lockers within bid
package #7 was granted March 18, 1986. On April 17, 1986, the
locker bids were to be received. Unfortunately, only one bid
was received, even though twelve companies were requested to
bid.
Lockers
Goodale Co. $26,418.00
Due to construction scheduling, it is imperative that this work
be awarded. We therefore recommend award to the Goodale Company
for the amount specified. This award is in excess of our
original budget projection, however, the award does represent a
$3,000.00 savings from the original bid received. It is our
belief the excess cost may be accounted for within the overall
budget.

additional information is required or if there are any problems
