Staff recanmerrls Council adopt Resolution No. ?S-J { , acceptlrg a bid for
the purchase of Security System for Library.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The Security System will be i1stalled at the Main Library ard the Branch
Library. The Security System will protect printed ard non-printed materials.
Jt '.is a detection system, operatirg with se11sirg panels ffllich will detect
ma~terials not detunoo for circulation ard will set off an alar:m ard a light
signal. Volunteers will be taggirg printed ard non-printed material that is in
the library now am new acquisitions will be ta;1ged by Library staff as part of
processing procedure.
In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code, Notice to
Bidders was published ard Request for Bids was sent to three verdors. Two
responses were received, opena::I, wl tnessed and recorded on April 9, 1986. The
lowest responsive bid was submitted by Checkpoint Systems, Inc., 550 GrC11e Road,
Thorofare, NJ 08086, in the anount of $22,822.40 with optional accesrories in
the ~ount of $413.40 for a total of $23,235.80.
FISCAL Itf>ACT
Unencumberai fU\ds in the crnount of $27,645 are available in Account No. 001-
820-4010-3900. After the one year warranty period, a maintenance contract will
be obtained at ;i cost of $700 per year for the Main Library ard the Branch
U.brary.
