RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No.^£3^xapproving the appointment of a
three-member committee to review budget requests from
community service organizations.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City has received requests for funds from five community
service agencies. Funds requested total $56,458.
Last year a formula of 25 to 30 percent of Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds was used to determine
the level of funding for community services. It is
estimated that CDBG funds received will be $159,000.
Twenty seven and a half percent of this amount equals
approximately $44,000 which can then be used for funding
community services. These funds will have to come from
the General Fund as CDBG requirements prohibit community
service funding.
Council is requested to form a three-member committee
that would represent varied community interests. The
committee will review and hear these requests for funding
and make a recommendation to the City Council at the public
hearing on May 27, 1986.

4 WHEREAS, the support of community services is of concern to the City
5 Council of the City of Carlsbad; and
6 WHEREAS, the City Council is requested to create a five-member citizen
7 review committee to review, hear and make a recommendation on community
8 services budget requests.
9 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
10 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
11 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
12 2. That the following persons are hereby appointed to serve as
13 members on the Community Services Budget Requests Committee:
14 Dan Sherlock
15 Barbara Hallman
16 Maxwell Vague
17 Dalton Weber
18 Gregory Fried
19 3. That the Committee will terminate upon completion of the report to
20 Council.
21 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of
22 the City of Carlsbad on the 13th day of May , 1986, by the
23 following vote, to wit:
