CM CITY OF ENCINITAS CITY MGR. RECOMMENDED ACTION: That Council adopt Resolution No. r& q2 extending congratulations to the City of Encinitas. ITEM EXPLANATION: The voters of the communities of Encinitas, Leucadia, Olivenhain and Cardiff have elected to form the City of Encinitas, and have chosen members of the first city council. The City of Encinitas becomes an official city in San Diego County on October 1, 1986. The City of Carlsbad and the City of Encinitas share a common boundary and have common problems and concerns, as well as an opportunity to work together to better serve the citizens of our two cities. Z 0 Q U Z M 0 ©i' 8' 9 10 11 12 13 141 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 8642 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD CALIFORNIA EXTENDING CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENCINITAS WHEREAS, the voters of the communities of Encinitas, Olivenhain, Leucadia and Cardiff have elected to form the new City of Encinitas; and WHEREAS, the voters have chosen Marjorie Gaines, Anne Omsted, Rick Shea, Gerald Steel and Greg Luke to serve as members of the first City Council; and WHEREAS, the City of Encinitas will officially join the family of cities in San Diego County on October 1, 1986; and WHEREAS, the City of Encinitas and the City of Carlsbad share a common boundary and have many common problems and opportunities for service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad that: 1. On behalf of the citizens of Carlsbad, congratulations are extended to the citizens and City Council of Encinitas. 2. The City of Carlsbad offers its support and assistance to its new neigh- bor and pledges its cooperation in addressing common problems and concerns. 3, The City of Carlsbad looks forward to working together with the City of Encinitas to better serve the citizens of our sister cities. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City held on the 1st day of July 1986, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Council Members Casler, Lewis, Kulchin, Chick and Pettine NOES: None ABSENT: None ATTEST: ALETHA L.
