RECOMMENDED ACTION:
TITLE: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF DEPT. HI).&
TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT INTERSECTIONS CITY AUY V% OF JEFFERSON AND LAS FLORES AND JEFFERSON AND LAGUNA CITY MGR.=
Adopt Resolution No. accepting bids and awarding Contract
Nos. 3210 and 3211 construction of traffic signals at
Jefferson and Las Flores and Jefferson and Laguna.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On May 6, 1986, the City Council authorized advertisement for bids for the above referenced project. Six (6) sealed bids were
received on May 30, 1986, as follows:
1. MCR Electrical Contractors, Inc. $100,769
2. D & M Perry, Inc. 102,000
3. McCain Construction 103,307
4. Steiny and Company, Inc. 104,300
5. DBX, Inc. 109,099
6. Paul Gardner Corporation 118,720
The Engineer's estimate for the construction portion of this project was $120,000. References have been verified for the low bidder and staff recommends award of this contract to MCR Electrical Contractors, Inc.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $140,000 were budgeted for this project in
account Nos. 300-820-1840-3210 and 300-820-1840-3211. The City
will be reimbursed for one-half all costs associated with the
signal system at Jefferson and Laguna by prior agreement with an
adjacent developer Income Property Group. Reimbursement will occur at the conclusion of the project. A summary of the project funding is as follows:

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
THE EXECUTION OF CONTRACT NOS. 3210 AND 3211 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT INTERSECTIONS OF JEFFERSON STREET AND LAS FLORES AND LAGUNA DRIVE
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AUTHORIZING
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad
for the construction of traffic signals at Jefferson Street and
Las Flores and Laguna Drive, Contract Nos. 3210 and 3211; and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for said contracts was
submitted by MCR Electrical Contractors, Inc., in the amount of
$100,769: and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the Account Nos, 300-
820-1840-3210 and 300-820-1840-3211 for this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. The bid of $100,769 by MCR Electrical Contractors,
Inc. for Contract Nos. 3210 and 3211 for said signals is hereby
accepted, and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to
execute a contract thereafter.
