ITEM EXPLANATION The City of Carlsbad adopts by reference the San Diego County Code of Regulatory Ordinances for animal control. Enforcement is accomplished by the County under contract with the City. San Diego County has completed the adoption of extensive revisions to their animal control regulations. It is now necessary for the Council to determine whether or not to adopt the revised regulations as a part of the Carlsbad Municipal Code. The County of San Diego and the responsible departments recommend that we adopt the new code. If the Council concurs your action is to introduce Ordinance No. aby reading the title and then, by motion, set the matter for public hearing at your meeting of September 23, 1986. Copies of the code will be available in the office of the City Clerk. The ordinance will make conforming changes in other sections of the Code to make our penalty provisions track those of the County. The regulations contain a number of significant measures including Section 62.674 regarding the regulation of vicious dogs and sections 62.700 and 62.701 regarding the transportation of animals in motor vehicles and the leaving of animals in unattended vehicles.
