RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. f'7j / , awarding a bid for a gas-engine analyzer.
ITEM EXPLANATION
Th~ budget for the Safety Center includes funds fer the purchase of a gas engine
analyzer. This machine ls capable of testing and diagnosing problems in all the
gasoline driven vehicles in the City's fleet.
Specifications were developed by the Fleet Maintenance Superintendent, and in

; accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code, Notice to
Bidders was published and Request for Bids was made to three vendors.
-}: Three responses were received, opened, witnessed and recordod on August 20,
1986. The lowest responsive bid was from Allen Test Products; 5640 Kearney Mesa
Road, Suite A; San Diego, CA 92111 in the amount of $9,895.50 plus tax, for a
total of $10,489.23.
FISCAL IMPACT
Unencumbered funds in the amount of $84,441.78 in Account No. 300-820~1810-3006
are available for the purchase of the gas engine analyzer costing $10,489.23.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A
BID AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION Of A PURCHASE
ORDER FOR THE PURCHASE OF A GAS ENGINE ANALYZER
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
California, as follows:
1. That the bid of Allen Test Products; 5640 Kearny Mesa Road, Suite A;
San Diego, CA 92111 for a gas engine analyzer as shown in Exhibit A, is hereby
accepted and the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a.'Purch«se Order
in the amount of $9,895.50, plus tax, for a total of $10,489.23.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad City
Council held on the 16th day of September . , 1986, by the following
