PROTECTION DISTRICT CITY ATTY
DEPT. FIR I
CITY MGR.7't
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
If Council concurs, your action is to approve Resolution No. 3s directing
the Mayor to execute an Automatic Aid Agreement between the City of Carlsbad
and the San Marcos Fire Protection District.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The San Marcos Fire Protection District has recently expressed an interest in
entering into an automatic aid agreement for fire protection with the City of
Carlsbad. The City currently has such agreements with the City of Oceanside,
Encinitas Fire Protection District, and Rancho Santa, Fe Fire Protection Distridt.
An automatic aid agreement provides for the initial dispatch of fire fighting
units from both parties to the agreement to fire and rescue incidents which
occur within the described automatic aid boundaries. The resulting effect is
the ability of both agencies to provide an improved level of fire and rescue
services to the citizens living or working within the area..
FISCAL IMPACT:
Negligible incremental increase in operating costs due to a slight increase in the
number of emergency responses.
