TITLE. MPNAGEMENT ASSISTANT, MANAGEMENT
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Council adopt Resolution No. m5-1 revising the classification of
Manqement Assistant, Management Analyst, and Senior Management Analyst.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The Personnel Department in concrurrence with the City Manqer's Office recanmends that several charges be made to the classifications of Administrative
Aide, Administrative Assistant I and Administrative Assistant 11.

CALIFORNIA, REVISIK THE CLASSIFICATIONS OF MANAGEMENT
ASSISTANT, MANAGEMENT ANALYST, AND SENIOR MANAGEMENT ANALYST
WHEREAS, the City Manager recanmds and the City Council concurs, that thc
classification of Administrative Aide, Administrative Assistant I and
Administrative Assistant I1 should he modified.
NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
California, as follows:
1. That the abwe recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City Manaqer to chan
the titles of Administrative Aide to Manaement Assistant; Administrative
Assistant I to Vanaqement Analyst; and Administrative Assistant IT: to Senior
Manqement Analyst and make minor modifications in the job classifications as
described in Attachments A-C, attached hereto ad made a part thereof.
3. That the City Council authorizes and directs the City Manaqer an3 to
chanqe the titles of Administrative Aide to Management Assistant: Administrat2
Assistant I to Management Analyst; and Administrative Assistant I1 to Senior
Management Analyst to the appropriate City salary plan as shown on Attachment
attached hereto and made a part thereof.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This class is specifically designed as an entry level, training class in the
general administrative career series.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Conduct surveys and perform research and statistical analysis on administrative,
fiscal, personnnel and operational problems.
Analyze data and make recanmendations on the formulation of operatinq procedure
and staffim , and organizational requirements within the area assigned.
Compile materials ad prepare reports, manuals and publications, and assist in
the maintenance of records and accounts.
Design and implement systems and fonns for use in operational situations.

DEFINITION
Under qeneral direction, to perform responsible professional technical,
analytical and administrative work; ad to do related work as assiqned.
DISTINGIJISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Incumbents of this class perform a variety of difficult and cmplex professional
administrative tasks. Duties require the ability to oerform canplex
orqanizational and budqet analysis and the ability to choose amow a number of
alternatives in solving problems. The work assiqned may involve the supervision
of other professional, paraprofessional ami technical employees.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Assist in the development of qoals, objectives, oolicies and priorities for the
