'^ CITY ATTY \)^/S CITY MQR.-^^— RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. Fy/^ accepting bids and awarding Contract No. 3229 for the construction of the Carlsbad Boulevard Storm Drain Interceptor project to the Buntich Construction Company. ITEM EXPLANATION; On October 7, 1986, the City Council directed the readvertisement for bids for the construction of the Carlsbad Boulevard Storm Drain Interceptor project. Eight (8) sealed bids were received on November 5, 1986, as follows: 1. Buntich Construction $387,186.00 2. JWM Engineering 494,655.42 3. Kutlesa, Inc. 495,613.81 4. Artukovich and Son 511,864.00 5. Peter C. David Company 521,798.84 6. Marathon Construction 589,000.00 7. Schmidt Construction . 601,110.75 8. El Cajon Grading 721,618.81 The Engineer's estimate for the construction portion of this project is $500,000. References have been verified on the low bidder and staff recommends award of this contract to Buntich Construction Company. FISCAL IMPACT; The City Council has previously appropriated a total of $750,000 in the 1986-87 Capital Improvement Program in account no. 810- 840-3410-3229 for this project. This funding is contingent on the sale of tax increment bonds by the Redevelopment Agency. Until O such sale, this project will be supported from existing cash balances in the Redevelopment fund. Should the bond sale not occur by year end, a loan from the general fund to the Agency will be necessary to fund this project. EXHIBITS: b 1 . Location Map 2. That the bid of $387,186.00 submitted by Buntich Construction for Contract No. 3229 for the construction of the Carlsbad Boulevard Storm Drain Interceptor project is hereby accepted, and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a contract thereafter.
