PURCHASE OF PORTABLE
WHEEL LOAD SCALES
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution No. 'f?7 r acceptlng a bid for the
purchase of portable wheel weighing scales.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The 1986-87 Police budget has funds available for the purchase of a portable
wheel weighing system. The major functions of the system will be to check the
weight of commercial vehicles and to enforce the regulations regarding
overweight vehicles on City streets.
In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code, Notice to
Bidders was published and Request for Bids was sent to four vendors. One
responsive bid was received from Pat Equipment Corporation, 1661 Worcester Road,
Framingham, MA 01701, in the amount of $12,740.00.
FISCAL IMPACT
Unencumbered funds in the amount of $13,023.92 are available in Account Number
001-840-2160-3900 for the purchase of the scales.

light weight platform scales with the portable eval-
uation unit (SAW 300), trailer-carried scales cari
be replaced. SAW10-C/300 gives you a low cost
system with no sacrifice in accuracy.
Cutting shallow slots into the road surface makes
it easy to position the scales quickly for weighing.
Simply disconne-ting the scales permits reloca-
tion in minutes. SAW10-C saves time and money

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCPETING A BID AND
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE ORDER FOR
THE PURCHASE OF A PORTABLE WHEEL WEIGHING SCALE
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as
follows:
1. That the bid of Pat Equipment Corporation, 1661 Worcester Road,
Framingham, MA 01701, in the amount of $12,740 is hereby accepted and the
Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized to execute a purchase order for the
purchase of the portable ~heel weighing scales.
2. That unencumbered funds in the amount of $13,023.92 are available in
Account Number 001~840-2160-3900 for this purchase.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad on, the 18th day of November
vote, to wit:
