RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. approving plans and specifications and
authorizing the erk to advertise for bids for the
construction of a traffic signal at the intersection of Palomar
Airport Road and Camino Vida Roble.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The plans and specifications for the construction of a traffic
signal at the intersection of Palomar Airport Road and Camino
Vida Roble have been completed. Municipal Projects and the
Engineering Department have reviewed and approved the plans and
specifications.
This traffic signal is required due to increasing traffic volumes
at this intersection. The growing occupancy of industrial
buildings on Camino Vida Roble necessitates the installation of
this traffic signal system at this time. Construction will begin
immediately following completion of the roadway improvements on
the north side of Palomar Airport Road at Camino Vida Roble
presently being installed by Centre Development, Inc.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Engineer's estimate for the construction portion of this
project is $70,000.
As a condition of approval for Centre Development's Tract No. 81-
46, Centre Development and Mitsui Fudosan, Inc., (developers),
have each deposited $40,000 for a total of $80,000 representing
their contributions for the construction of this signal system.
The above funds are available in the project account No. 320-840-
1840-3235, for the construction and project administration.
Mitsui Fudosan, Inc., is further conditioned to deposit
additional funds up to $60,000 if the total project costs exceed
$80,000.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF
PALOMAR AIRPORT ROAD AND CAMINO VIDA ROBLE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has
determined it is necessary and in the public interest to
construct the Palomar Airport Road and Camino Vida Roble
traffic signal; and
WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the furnishing of
all labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, and
other expenses necessary or incidental for said project,
Contract No. 3235, have been prepared and are on file in the
Engineering Department of the City of Carlsbad and are
incorporated by reference herein;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the plans and specifications as presented are
hereby approved.

3. That the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby
authorized and directed to proceed to publish, in accordance
with law, Notice to Contractors inviting bids for the
construction of the Palomar Airport Road and Camino Vida Roble
traffic signal in accordance with the specifications
hereinabove referred to.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
Carlsbad City Council held on the 18th day of November ,
1986 by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Chick and Pettine
NOES: None
ABSENT : Council Member Casler
