The Arts Commission must determine 1) the time schedule allowing sufficient time for the selection committee t extend its selection process if necessary to find a proposal which commands the enthusiastic support of tk committee members, 2) the members of the selection comittee, 3) the contract with the artist and 4) other considerations as they arise. REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL - SCULPTURE FOR THE SAFETY AND SERVIC CENTER (see attachment) for discussion and approval w 0 REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL 1986/7 PERCENT FOR ART PROGRAM SAFETY AND SERVICE CENTER Project Description An outdoor sculpture will be commissioned for the new Carlsbac Safety and Service Center located at 2560 Orion Street. Proposals for the commission should take in the following: 1. Siting - The sculpture will be located outside on the west side of the building. The artist may select the site most suitable to his proposal - the plaza, the grass area or the park area across the street. and Fire Departments). 2. Including artist fees, materials, fabrication, transportation, installation costs and sales tax. Cost is a factor that will be taken into consideration. The Arts Commission will not necessarily recommend the maximum amount. Eligibility This commission is open for applications from regional artists residing in the following counties: Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernadino, and San Diego. Required Materials for Submission 1. A preliminary sketch on 8 1/2 x 11 plain white paper. 2. A narrative description of the proposed piece which includes dimensions, materials, siting and maintenance requirements. 3. Evidence of previous sculptures, including slides and resume. w a 4. Three artists will be selected to produce a maquette for whicl each selected artist will be paid $2000. Materials will be returned if self-addressed stamped envelope is provided. Deadline for Proposal (to be determined) No late proposals accepted. The Selection Committee for the Safety and Service Center includes: Police Chief Jimno, Fire Chief Thompson, Arts Commissioner Dona Meilach, community representative, an artist and an arts professional.
