RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Accept the construction of Fire Station No. 4 as complete. Direct the City Clerk
to have the Notice of Completion recorded. Authorize the Director of Finance to
close the project upon payment of all final project costs and claims.

ITEM EXPLANATION
Construction of Fire Station No. 4 has been satisfactorily completed. The final
contract amount of $325,038.53 includes a total of $3,295.53 in change orders and
a credit of $11,800.00 in liquidated damages due to the completion of the project
running past the contract limit.

Funds in the amount of $344,308 were budgeted for construction and related services
for the project. Ten percent (10%) retention will be withheld until thirty-five
(35) days after the filing of the Notice of Completion. A summary of the project's
costs is a follows:

To All Laborers and Material Men and to Every Other Person Interested:
YOU WILL PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on January 6, 1987, the Fire Department
project consisting of Fire Station No. 4 located at 6885 Bataquitos Drive
on which Crest Construction Co. was the Contractor, and Insurance. Company
of the West was the surety, was completed.

5I WHEREAS, the construction of Fire Station No. 4, located at 6885
61 Batiquitos Drive was completed on January 6, 1987; and

7 WHEREAS, the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad, California is required
8 to record the Notice of Completion for said project; and

9 WHEREAS, all final costs associated with said project have been
10 identified;
11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL+ED by the City Council of the City of
12 Carlsbad, California, as follows:
13 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
14 2. That the construction of Fire Station No. 4 is deemed complete and
15 hereby accepted.
16 3. That the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad, California is directed
17 to record the Notice of Completion for said project.
18 4. That the Director of Finance of the City of Carlsbad, -California is
19 authorized to close the project account upon final payment of all outstanding
