DEPT. ____ _ RECOMMENDED ACTION: DISPOSAL OF SURPLUS CITY PROPERTY DEPT. CITY ATTY........__~ CITY MGR.-.i-1.~ Council adopt Resolution No. 8939, authorizing the disposal of surplus equipment. ITEM EXPLANATION ·Recently, new office furnishings and radio eyJipment were purchased for the Safety Center. An inventory of items previously used by the Police and Fire Departments was taken and these items were made available to all City departments. A number of items were transferred to various departments (Exhibit A); however, there are a number of articles that are no longer able to be used by City departments. These items are either broken, not configured correctly or are extensively worn. Exhibit B lists the items that are no longer useable, and it is recommended they ·be declared obsolete and disposed of in accordanc~ with Se~tion 3.29 of the Carlsbad Muntcipal Code. Resolution No. 8939 authorizes the City Manager to dispose of the items, as. appropriate, including the transfer of obsolete property to schools, charitable organizations and other non-profit organizations. FISCAL IMPACT The amount received from tne sale of the surplus items will be deposited in the City's General Fund. EXHIBITS 1. Surplus Furnishings transferred to City Departments -Exhibit A 2. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has determined that certain items can no longer be used and are obsolete; and WHEREAS, it would be bP.neficial to the City of Carlsbad to dispose of these items. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That the above-recitations are tr~e and correct. 2. That the items listed in Exhibit B be declared surplus and not required for public use. 3. That the City Manager ls hereby authorized and directed to proceed to dispose of the items of obsolete equipment, as appropriate, including transfer of said surplus property to schools, charitable organizations and other non- profit organizations.
