RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 8940, awarding the bid for office
furnishings for various departments due to remodeling City
Hall.
ITEM EXPLANATION
The 1986-87 Capital Improvement Budget includes $490,585.
for City Hall remodeling and for ancillary furnishings.
The furnishings are primarily for the Council Chambers,
the Mayor and Council Members offices, five new conference
rooms and the expanding waiting areas in the City Manager's
,and-City Attorney's offices.
In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code,
Notice to Bidders was published and Requests for Bids was
made to six vendors. Six responses were received, opened,
witnessed and recorded on December 29, 1986.
The lowest responsive bid on twelve items was Seal Furniture,
9725 Scranton Road, San Diego, CA 92121 in the amount of
$21,268. plus tax, for a total of $22,544.08.
The lowest responsive bid on six items was B-K Cox~ 9920
Scripps Lake Drive, San Diego, Ca 92131, in the amount
of $9,888.80,, plus tax, for a total of $10,482.13.
The lowest responsive bid on two items was O'Neill Envirocorp,
5152 Avenida Encinas, Carlsbad, CA 92008 in the amount
of $13,284. plus tax, for a total of $16,858.24.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total cost of the furnishings is $49,884.45. Unencumbered
funds in the amount of $99,570. are available in Account
Number 320-840-1810-3227 for the furnisliings.

OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS
AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE ORDER
FOR THE PURCHASE OF OFFICE FURNISHINGS

BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the bid of B-K Cox, 9920 Scripps Lake Drive,
6 San Diego., C.\ 92131 for Items 1, 2, 3, 4, 16 and 17 as shown
7 on Exh:i;bit ,A, is hereby accepted and the Purchasing Officer
8 is heJ!~by authorized to execute a Purchase Order for the
9 purchase of. furniture in the amount of $10,482.13 including
10 tax.
11 2. That th,, bid of Seal Furniture, 9725 Scranton Road,
12 San Diego, CA 92121 for Items 6, 8, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20,
13 21, 22, 23 and 25 as shown on Exhibit A, is hereby accepted
14 and the Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized to execute
15 a Purchase Order for the purchase of furniture in the amount
16 of $22,544.08 including tax.
17 3. That the bid of O'Neill Envirocorp, 5152 Avenida
18 Encinas, Carlsbad, CA 92008 for items 5 and 7 as shown on
19 Exhibit A, is hereby accepted and the Purchasing Officer
20 is hereby authorized to execute a Purchase order for the
21 purchase of furniture in the amount of $16,858.24, including
22 tax.
