FIR Z 0 U C� Z 0 RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt and file report. ITI EXPLANATION: FIRE DEPARTMENT ANNUAL REPORT DEPT. HD., CITY ATTY CITY MOR, The Fire Chief and staff will present the Department's annual report for 1986. It will include some history of where the department has come from to what is currently provided. Workload figures for 1986 will be reviewed along with an explanation of what services the department provides. For comparative purposes, the Department has compared fire defense workload measures and costs in 19 southern California cities. Ten comparable cities to what Carlsbad provides today, or will in the future were selected. The report will then compare Carlsbad's fire defense measures -to these other ten cities. Concluding the report will be a brief overview of the department's master plan outlining what will be necessary in the future to meet the City's growing needs. Here is a- brief review of the Fire Department's 1986 annual workload measures: 3,073 Total Calls For Service 2,076 Emergency Medical Calls 275 Fire Incidents 722 Citizen Special Services Fire Prevention conducted: 1,742 Commercial building fire safety inspections 523 New building plans were reviewed for compliance to the City's Fire Code. 1,400 Parcels were noticed by the Weed Abatement Program. 3,000 Adults and children received, fire safety education presentations.
