RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Motion supporting:
o SB 181 to provide $300 million in library bonds.
o SB 482 provides grants for family literacy programs.
o SB 440 exempts libraries from paying sales taxes.

The Library Board is supporting these bills because they would be
beneficial to the Carlsbad Library.
SB 181 would enable Carlsbad to apply for 75% grant to tinance the
new South Library. SB 181 bond issue would be on June 1988 ballot.
SB 482 would support continuance of the literacy program.
SB 440 would save City $12, 000 now paid in sales tax for
'library purchases.
