RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends the Council adopt Resolution No .. ?.o 7r' ,
awarding the bid for the purchase of library shelving for
the mezzanine.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
Oh January o, 1987 Council approved Resolution Number 8950
authorizing the addition of shelving for the library mezzanine.
In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code,
Notice to Bidders was published and Request for Bids was made
to eight vendors. Five responses were received, opened, witnessed,
and recorded on April 15, 1987.
The lowest responsive bid was submitted by Yamada Enterprises,
18582.Beach Blvd., Suite 210, Huntington Beach, CA 92648,
in the amount of $14,974.87 including tax.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Unencumbered funds in the amount of $19,391.00 are available
ih Account Number 001-820-4010-2490 and Account Number 001-820-
4010~3§00 for the purchase of new shelving, and the dismantling
and reassembling of existing double face sections of library
sl}.elving.

SUBJECT: Shelving Bids
Additional information submitt~d by the low bidder, P & M
Installation, indicates t~at $8,592 would have to be added
to their bid to provide additional equipment specified
in the genera1 requirements. This equipment would enable
the library to convert single faced shelving to double
faced shelving and vice versa. This requirement was met
in the specifications of the second lowest bidder, Yamada
Enterprises. With this additional information, library
staff has been able to evaluate the bids received on an
equivalent basis. Adding $8,592:to P & M's bid gives
Yamada the lo¼ bid by about $7 1 000. All other requirements
were acceptable by both bidders.

CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING
A BID AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A PUR-
CHASE ORDER FOR THE PURCHASE OF LIBRARY
SHELVING FOR MEZZANINE., -----------
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the bid of Yamada Enterprises, 19882 Beach
-Blvd., Suite 210, Huntington Beach, CA 92648, in the amount
of $14,974.87, including tax, is hereby accepted and the
Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized to execute a Purchase
Order for the purchase of library shelving for mezzanine
in amount of $14,974.87.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council
of the City of Carlsbad, California, at a regular meeting
held on the 19th Day of May ,, 1987, by the ------------
