RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. /2&P accepting bids and awarding a contract
and Monroe Street, Project No. 3257, and Alga Road and Corintia
Street, Project No. 3259, to McCain Construction.

On May 12, 1987, the Carlsbad City Council approved plans and
specifications and authorized the advertisement of bids for the
construction of traffic signal systems at Elm Avenue and Monroe
Street and Alga Road and Corintia Street.
The four (4) sealed bids were received on June IO, 1987, as
follows:

A sixty (60) day construction period has been recommended for the
construction of the traffic signal system at Alga Road and
Corintia to enable completion prior to the beginning of the school
year in September. Additionally, a ninety (90) day period has
been recommended for the construction of the traffic signal system
at Elm Avenue and Monroe Street.
References have been verified on the low bidder and staff
recommends award of this project to McCain Construction in the
amount of $133,705.
FISCAL-IMPACT:
The City Council has previously appropriated in the 1986-87 C.I.P.
budget $80,000 for the construction of the traffic signal system
at Elm Avenue and Monroe Street. Additionally, the City Council
appropriated $70,000 for the construction of the traffic signal
system at Alga Road and Corintia Street. Staff recommends award
of this project.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING
A CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE TRAFFIC
SIGNAL SYSTEMS AT ELM AVENUE AND MONROE STREET
AND ALGA ROAD AND-CORINTIA STREET
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad
for the installation of traffic signals systems at Elm Avenue
and Monroe Street, Project No. 3257, and Alga Road and Corintia
Street, Project No. 3259; and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for said project was
submitted by McCain Construction in the amount of $133,705; and
WHEREAS, there is sufficient project funding currently
budgeted in the City's Capital Improvement Program budget to
award this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
rity of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
I. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the bid' of $133,705 by McCain Construction for
project Nos. 3257 and 3259 is hereby accepted and the Mayor and

PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
Carlsbad City Council held on the 23rd day of June 9
1987 by the following vote, to wit:
