bid for Cabling and Communication Hardware. '
ITEM EXPLANATION:
, awarding the
On February 17, 1987, Council adopted Resolution No. 8970 which authorized
the upgrade of the City's computer hardware at City Hall, Las Palmas, Safety
Center and Library. It is necessary to purchase and install Cabling and
Communication hardware to allow access to the HP 3000 from remote City
locations. This will make it possible for the City to implement the permit
tracking applicat~on and for the Library to implement their automated circulation
and on-line catalog application.
In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code, Notice to Bidders
was published and Requests for Bid!. was made to five vendors. Four responses
were received, opened, witnessed and recorded on June 10, 1987.
The lowest responsive bid for the Cabling was received from Sigma Electronics,
7514 Clairefuont Mesa Blvd., San Dieog, CA 92111 in the amount of $12,135.30.
The lowest responsive bid for the options was received from DataAids, Inc.,
1544 Sawgust Rd., Suite 111, The Woodlands, TX 77380 in the amount of
$16,754.56 including tax.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total cost of the Cabling and Communication Hardware is $28,889.86. Un-
encumbered funds in the amount of $23,889.81 are available in Account No. 640-
840-1920-3900 for Cabling and Hardware for City Hall, Las Palmas and Safety
Center. Unencumbered funds in the am~unt of $15,571.10 are available in
Account No. 180-840-8110-3900 for Cabling for the Library.

CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
OF PURCHASE ORDERS FOR CABLING AND COMMUNICATION HARDWARE.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, as follows:
1. That the bid of Sigma Electronics, 7514 Clairemont Mesa
Blvd., San Diego, CA 92111 for the Cabling, is hereby accepted and the
Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized to execute a Purchase Order for
the Cabling in the amount of $12,135.30.
2. That the bid of DataAids, Inc., 1544 Sawdust Road, Suite
111, The Woodland, Texas 77380 for the Com.~unication Hardware is hereby
accepted and the Purchasing Officer is hereby authorized to execute a
Purchase Order for Communication Hardware in the amount of $16,754.56.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad at a regular meeting held on 23rd day of June -----
1987, by the following vote, to wit:
