I believe some unfortunate statements were made in the November election of 1986 -- the election is over. 2. Both Mr. Mamaux and Mr. Pettine were selected out of a field of eleven candidatesto represent the citizens of Carlsbad. 3. Everyone knew Mr. Pettine would be a working Council Member with limited hours during the day. 4. Gentlemen, there are no subs--you are it until 199 This Council was given a charge by our electorate to work together for the benefit of Carlsbad. 5. Even with this bickering taking place, Carlsbad has made tremendous progress: a. Batiquitos Lagoon Enhancement program is moving forward. b. Peace between the City and HPI, placing them on a time schedule for processing. c. The opening of Stage Coack Park. d. Lake Calaveras Park is under construction. e. We have completed the Sea Wall. . '0 *. L: I) \ June 23, 1987 -2- f. We have continued progress in the downtown redevelopment area in the streetscape desivn for Elm Avenue. The Senior Center is becoming a reality. The Growth Management Program is underway, and we have already approved Zones 2, 3 and 4. go- h. Mr. Mamaux has been very productive in ideas to benefit our City: 1. He spearheaded the recent Business Men's group to work with the City/Business concerns. He spearheaded the public golf course proposal with the County. Spearheaded the Senior Center at Pine Street. 2. 3. Mr. Pettine has also been very productive to the City: Without his support the City could not have accomplished our Growth Management Plan. He spearheaded the Council getting involved with the Regional Planning Board. 1. 2. Gentlemen, this Council does not have the time or energy for this petty bickering. decisions facing us, such as: We have many important 1. The Library in south Carlsbad. 2. 3. The Alga/Poinsettia east/west connector. 4. Carlsbad public golf course. Rancho Santa Fe Road alignment. 5. And the most important -- making Sure our Growth Management Plan works. I think it is time to put the past and our past differenc behind us and to work toward the future of Carlsbad!
