H TITLE: APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CHANGE ORDER NO. 5 RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. 9/53 approving construction Change Or No. 5 for the Calavera Hills Community Park, Phase I, Project I 3173. ITEM.EXPtANATIBN: Phase I construction of the Calavera Hills Community Park proceeding on schedule. To date, four (4) minor change ord required by changed field conditions totalling $8,767 have b previously executed in accordance with Administrative Order 7. Proposed additive Change Order No. 5 includes the followin Item 1: Installation of telephone conduit from Glasgow to the exterior wall of the restroom building. $ 3,482. Item 2: Phase I1 perimeter fencing 13,607. Item 3: Contractor purchase and installation of playground equipment 42,694. I Total Cost of additive Change Order No. 5 $59,784. The plans for Phase I of the park do not include a service PO for the installation of a public pay telephone anywhere on site. Staff recommends the installation of a public telephone on the east wall of the restroom facility whicb currently under construction. The conduit and wire specified been sized to provide additional public pay telephone service the future Community Center building to be constructed in PI- install the telephone instrument itself prior to Phase opening to the general public. The plans for Phase I of the park include perimeter fen( around the ballfields fronting Glasgow and Tamarack solely wi' the Phase I site. This contract, however, includes the grac and installation of drainage structures on the adjacent fui Phase I1 park site, as well as the future Fire Station sit1 the corner of Elm and Glasgow. Staff strongly recommends continuation of fencing around the entire perimeter of the fui I I. Parks personnel will make arrangements to purchase Phase I1 site at this time, Installation of perimeter ftnl will discourage individuals from riding or walking across steep, planted slopes, thereby reducing erosion problems minimizing the potential for personal injury.
