TITLE
1986-87 STREET OVERLAY PROGRAM .
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. P/&accepting the bid and awarding a contract to South
Coast Asphalt Products Company of Carlsbad, California in the amount of
$790,612.84.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On June 9, 1987, the City Council approved plans and specificaitons and authorized
the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the 1986-87 Street Overlay Program.
Four bids were received, opened, witnessed and recorded on July 6, 1987. The
bids were reviewed bythe staffs of the Purchasing and Utilities & Maintenance
Departments. South Coast Asphalt Products Company was the lowest responsive
bidder in the amount of $790,612.84. The contractor's registration and bonds
are in order and references are satisfactory. Other bidders:
Daley Corporation of San Diego $885,723.08
R. E. Hazard Contracting Company
of San Diego $888,835.21
Industrial Asphalt of Irvindale $901,238.40
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Engineer's estimate is $940,886.00 and funds are available in Account
NO. 001-820-5110-2412.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A BID AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
PROGRAM
OF CONTRACT NO. U/M-13 FOR THE 1986-87 STREET OVERLAY
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California,
as follows:
1. That the bid of South Coast Asphalt Products Company, P. 0. Box 218,
Carlsbad, California, 92008, is hereby accepted and the Mayor is authorized
to execute a contract for the 1986-87 Street Overlay Program in the amount
of $790,612.84.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
California, at a regular meeting held the 21St day of July 1987,
by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Pettine, Mamaux and Larson
NOES : None
ABSENT: None
