RECOMMENDED ACTION:
City Council accept donations received for exclusive use of
Triathlon operation.
ITEM EXPLANATION
Tim Brown, a former Carlsbad resident and Triathlon participant passed away unexpectedly just prior to the 1987 Carlsbad Triathlon. A Tim Brown Perpetual Memorial Trophy has been established to acknowledge the top male and female finishers of the 1987 and each
succeeding Triathlon.
The family and friends of the late Tim Brown have to'date, contribute1
$3,715 of donations in Tim's memory. Donations have been made with
intentions that the money be used exclusively for Triathlon operation
Expenditure of donations will be used to offset cost incurred for staging future Carlsbad Triathlons.
The donations were presented to the Parks and Recreation Commission a
the July 20, 1987 meeting. It was recommended to be forwarded to the
City Council for acceptance. A letter of appreciation will be sent
to the donors.

FISCAL IMPACT
Funds will be deposited in the Carlsbad Triathlon Donations Trust
Account #880-519-92-14-0000.
