Introduce Ordinance No. ,,3 ~ ..l O to establish a 25 mile
per hour prima facie speed limit on Eureka Place from
Chestnut Avenue to Basswood Avenue.
ITEM EXPLANATION
Eureka Place has been recently improved to a full curb to
curb width of 40 feet with two parking areas for Holiday
Park. Eureka Place extends approximately 1/4 mile between
Chestnut Avenue and Basswood Avenue. Staff presented the
results of a traffic and engineering survey to establish.a
prima facie speed limit on Eureka Place to the Traffic
Safety commission at their August 3, 1987 meeting. The
Commission unanimously recommended that a 25 mile per hour
prima facie speed limit be established on Eureka Place
thus concurring with the recommendation of the Traffic
Safety Coordinating Conutli ttee.
FISCAL IMPACT
The cost of two (2) speed limit signs and mounting
brackets for installation on street light standards is
$130.00 .

ORDINANCE NO. 3220
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMEMDING
TITLE 10, CHAPTER 10.44 OF THE CARLSBAD
MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE ADDITION OF SECTION
10.44.260 TO ESTABLISH THE SPEED LIMIT ON
EUREKA PLACE FROM CHESTNUT AVENUE TO
BASSWOOD AVENUE.
The City Council of the City of Ca-rlsbad, California,
hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION l: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44 of the
Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended by the addition of Section
10.44.260 to read as follows:
11 10.44.260 Eureka Place: Upon Eureka Place from
Chestnut Avenue to its intersection with Basswood
Avenue, the prima facie speed limit shall be
twenty-five miles per hour."
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective
15 thirty (30) days after its adoption and the city Clerk, City of
16 Carlsbad shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and
17 cause it to be published at least once in the Carlsbad Journal
18 within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
19 INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of the
20 Carlsbad City Council held on the 18th day of August , 19~7 and
