RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Ir,troduce Ordinance No. 3 2 2 I to establish a 40 mile per
hour prima facie speed limit on Camino De Las Ondas from
Paseo Del Norte to Briarwood Drive.
ITEM EXPLANATION
Camino De Las Ondas, east of Paseo Del Norte, is a two
lane collector street serving various residential
communities east of Paseo Del Norte and north of
Poinsettia Lane. Average daily traffic (ADT) is
approximately 1500 vehicles. This roadway segment has no
access from the north at this time. Four local streets
intersect on the south side and the road has a straight
alignment with no sight distance obstructions.
staff presented the results of a traffic and engineering
survey to establish a prima facie speed limit on Camino De
Las Ondas east of Paseo Del Norte to the Traffic Safety
commission at their August 3, 1987 meeting. The Traffic
Safety Commission voted four to one in favor of
establishing a 40 mile per hour prima facie speed limit on
Camino De Las Ondas from Paseo Del Norte to Briarwood
Drive, thus concurring with the recommendation of the
Traffic Safety Coordinating Committee.
FISCAL IMPACT
The cost of two (2) speed limit signs mounted on 10 foot
breakaway posts is $250.00.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING
TITLE 10, CHAPTER 10.44 OF THE CARLSBAD
MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE ADDITION OF SECTION
10.44.250 TO ESTABLISH THE SPEED LIMIT ON
CAMINO DE LAS ONDAS FROM PASEO DEL NORTE
TO BRIARWOOD DRIVE.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California,
hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44 of the
Carlsbad Municipal Code is amended by the addition of Section
10.44.250 to read as follows:
11 10.44.250 Camino De Las Ondas: Upon Camino De Las
Ondas from Paseo Del Norte to its intersection with
Briarwood Drive, the prima facie speed limit shall
be forty miles per hour."
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective
15 thirty (30) days after its adoption and the City Clerk, City of
16 Carlsbad shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and
17 cause it to be published at least once in the Carlsbad Journal
18 within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
19 INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of the
20 Carlsbad City Council held on the 18th day of August , 1987 and
