RECOMMENDED ACTION:
If Council concurs, your action is to adopt Resolution
No. 9211 setting October 1, 1987 as the date by which individual property owners are to be ready to connect to underground electric service in Underground Utility District No. 9.
ITEM EXPLANATION
San Diego Gas and Electric is scheduled to begin work on Underground Utility District No. 9 on September 15, 1987. The District is located in the alley west of State between Elm Avenue and Christiansen Way.
Section 11.08.03 of the Municipal Code requires that affected owners be notified of the date they must be ready to receive underground electric service. San Diego Gas and Electric has notified the City that removal of the overhead lines is scheduled for October 1, 1987. Council adoption of the attached Resolution will set October 1, 1987 as the date affected property owners must be ready to connect to underground service.
Costs of the Undergrounding ($200,000) are funded from the City's share of SDG&E Title 20A funds. of approximately $1,000 are paid by affected property owners.
Streetlights currently on overhead poles will need to be replaced when the poles are removed. Cost of the streetlight replacement will be paid from Community Development Block Grant funds.
Individual hook-ups
FISCAL IMPACT
Individual hook-ups of approximately $1,000 will be paid by individual property owners. The City owns three properties within the district boundries, the Santa Fe Depot, the Village Grill and a small retail building. Cost to connect these three properties will be approximately $3,000 which will be paid from the Redevelopment operating budget.

of Carlsbad, California adopted Resolution No. 8061
establishing Underground Utility District No. 9; and
WHEREAS, Section 11.08.030 of the Municipal Code
requires that property owners be notified by Resolution of
the time to be ready to connect to the Underground system;
and
WHEREAS, the underground system is to be completed by
October 1, 1987.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Council of
