RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. yJ.33- approving a grant from thl
California Arts Council in the amount of $5,520.
ITEM EXPLANATION
Make-a-Circus is scheduled for October 3, 1987, to be helc at Hope Elementary School playground. Janet Ketchum i scheduled as community artist from October 5-9, 1987 an
mime, Bronislaw Machalski is scheduled January 25-29, 1988.
FISCAL IMPACT
Janet Ketchum's contract is $3,300, Bronislaw Machalski' contract is $4,500 and Make-a-Circus is $3,600, tota
$11,400. California Arts Council will reimburse the art program $5,520 for the three touring companies. Th
remainder of funds are budgeted in FY 1987/88 Arts Progra
budget .

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A $5,520
GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA ARTS COUNCIL FOR ARTIST IN-RESIDENCE, JANET KETCHUM, BRONISLAW MACHALSKI
MAKE-A-CIRCUS
City Council of the City of Carlsbad, Californi,
hereby resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 1279 and the Arts Element
General Plan state the goal to "provide opportunities 1
Artistic and Cultural development of its citizens" with obj
number one "to develop and maintain an environment that
encourages diverse program activity in the arts, and
WHEREAS, the Arts Commission recommends a minimun
artists-in-residence programs be held in FY 1987/88 to
those goals and objectives, and
WHEREAS, the California Arts Council provides n
funds up to 50 percent for artists listed on their
program, and
WHEREAS, the California Arts Council has award(
grant to the City of Carlsbad, Arts Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Cou
the City of Carlsbad, California as follows:
1. That the California Arts Council grant of $5
hereby accepted.
2. That the grant amount is hereby appropriated
uses described herein.
