CITY ATTY v
CITY MGR.
Staff recommends Council adopt Resolution. No. authorizing the disposal
of obsolete computer equipment.
ITEM EXPLANATION
In October, 1987, the Library completed a transition from the CLSI computer system
shared with Oceanside to the INLEX system. With the installation of new Hewlett
Packard system, the old CLSI terminals can no longer be used by the Library or by
any other City department.
Several libraries in Southern California use the CLSI system and have expressed an
interest in acquiring the computers for use as backup support or for future
expansion. Since the City no longer has a need for the CLSI terminals, it is
recommended the six terminals that are now in storage be declared obsolete and
disposed of in accordance with Section 3.29 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code.
FISCAL IMPACT
The amount received from the sale of the equipment will be deposited in the
appropriate fund.
