ITEM EXPLANATION Mr. David Caste1 resigned as a member of the Beach Erosion Committt February 4, 1988. Mr. Castel’s term does not expire until June, 1990. In accordance with Section 54974 of the Government Code, the pub1 ic has to submit applications for appointment to this vacancy. My interest is personal in that I first came across Carlsbad as a young surfer in the early 1960s and grew to love Tamarack beach. When I mo’ back to California in 1977, I specifically set out to move to Carlsbad and event1 bought a home here. The ocean, the beach, the shoreline, the acquatic environmel the region was the reason for moving back.
