Staff recommends the Council adopt Resolution No. ?J-/J' , awarding the bid for the boom truck to Los Angeles Freightliner -GMC Trucks. ITEM EXPLANATION Th~ 1987-88 Budget includes funds in the Street Lighting Division Capital Equipment Account for the purchase of a boom truck. Boom truck is the trade name of a cab and chassis with a 47-foot working height articulated aerial tower. The vehicle will be used in the maintenance of Carlsbad's 3,500 street lights, the repair of traffic signals and emergency work as needed. This new equipment replaces an out-dated 1973 30-foot tower truck with over 112,000 miles on· it. In accordance with Section 3.28.120 of the Municipal Code, Notice to Bidders was published and Requ~st for Bids was made of sixteen vendors. Los .Angeles Frei~htliner -GMC Trucks, 2429 South Peck Road, Whittier, CA 90601,. submitted the lowest most responsive bid on March 2, 1988. FISCAL IMPACT Unencumbered funds in the amount of $80,000 are available in the Street Lighting Account Number 161-820'-6210-3900. The cost of the boom truck is $57,065.10, and with the trade-in allowance of $4,500.00 for the outdated equipment, the total cost will be $52,565.10. EXHIBITS 1. Tabulation of Bids -Exhibit "A" 2. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as 6 fol lows: 7 1. That the bid of L.A.
