OF CARLSBAD -AGENC:--BILL II.TI& CONTINr.ENCY TRANSFER FOR DATA P~QGEES!NG CffARGES RECOMMENDED ACTION: Adopt Resolution No. j!-J.s~ appropriating $52,500 from the Contingency account for data processing charges. ITEH EXPLANA'i'ION: The Land Use Planning Department has instituted a permit-tracking system which has incurred approximately $20,000 of data processing charges as of the end of February, 1988. The Purchasing Department has been charged approximately $1,300 more than their budget for data processing. The Data Processing Department estimates that total 1987-88 charges for these departments will be $50,000 and $2,500, respectively. Data processing charges are based on usage. This usage includes storage on disc drives, CPU usage, connect time, a print charge, and a hardware depreciation charge. Funds ,are not available in the departments' budgets to cover these additional costs; therefore a contingency ellocatfou. is recommended, Fiscal Imeact: The current balance in the Contingency account is $1,084,023. This balance would be reduced to $1,031,523. EXHIBITS: Resolution No. f'?·l.3!..,.. authorizing a contingency transfer. 1 2 3 4 RESOLUTION NO. 88-135 A RESOLUTION OF 'i'HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS FROM THE CONTINGENCY ACCOUNT TO COVER DATA PROCESSING CHARGES. WHEREAS, the City has established a Data Processing Internal Service Fund 5 to account for all data processing related costs, and 6 WHEREAS, the Data Proce~sing Fund charges all departments using data 7 processing services a user fee for services provided, and 8 9 requiring services from Data Processing which will cost more than is presently 10 11 12 13 WHEREAS, the Planning and Purchasing Departments find that they are provided in their respective budgets, and WHEREAS, these services are a necessary part of the daily operation of each department, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of 1 4 Carlsbad, California, that the transfer of $50,000 and $2,500 is hereby approveci 15 from the General Fund Contingency Account to the inter-departlllents services 16 accounts in the Planning and Purchasing Departments, respectively, 17 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of 18 April the City of Carlsbad, California, held on the 26th day ofll9se by the 19 following vote, to wit: 20 21 22 23 AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Mamaux, Larson NOES: ABSENT: Council Member Pettine 24 ATTEST: 25 26 ALET L.
