RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Accept donation of $700 from the Fieldstone Company and authorize the Mayor send the attached letter of appreciation.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Fieldstone Company has donated $700 to cover the costs of an exchange of children's art with Futtsu, Japan. exchange with our new sister city.
The Sister City Steering Committee, Arts Office, and the Library Department are working together on this project. endeavor by the Fieldstone Company and "Young Art '88", a collection of 26 pieces by Carlsbad school children is available for this exchange. works have been juried and were recently exhibited at the San Diego Museum ( Art.
Prior to being sent to Futtsu, this artwork will be exhibited in Carlsbad 01 the following dates:
May 15
May 16 - 31 : Carlsbad City Library, 1250 Elm Avenue
June 1 - 15 : La Costa Branch Library, 7750 El Camino Real
This summer, the City of Futtsu will be sending art done by their young pec (dates for the Futtsu exhibit are yet to be determined).
FISCAL IMPACT:
The seven hundred dollars ($700) will be deposited into account #880-519-9

The City Council of Carlsbad thanks you and the Fieldstone Company for yo generous donation. As you are aware, your donation will be used to pay f the children’s art exchange with our sister city, Futtsu, Japan. This pr is particularly important because it is the first cultural exchange with new sister city.
Later this summer, when we receive the art done by the children of Futtsu would like to invite you and others from the Fieldstone Company to view t exhibit. It will be interesting to see what subjects the Japanese childr choose to draw and paint.
