RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. n-/75 accepting the bid and awarding a
contract to South Coast Asphalt Products Company of Carlsbad,
California in the amount of $895,806.99 for overlaying and chip sealing various streets in the City.
ITEM GZPUN"P0N:
On May 3, 1988, the City Council approved plans and specifications
and authorized the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the
1987-88 Streets Overlay and Chip Seal Program.
Three (3) bids were received, opened, witnessed and recorded on May
23, 1988. The bids were reviewed by the staffs of the Purchasing and Utilities & Maintenance Departments. South Coast Asphalt
Products Company was the lowest responsive bidder in the amount of
$895,806.99. The contractor's registration and bonds are in order
and references are satisfactory. Other bidders:
R.E. Hazard Contracting Company of San Diego $953,151.60
Daley Corporation of San Diego $957,056.90
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Engineer's revised estimate is $936,068.00 and funds are
available in Account No. 001-820-5110-2412 in the amount of
$1,389,225.00.

OF COWI'RAIp NO. U/M-16 FOR "E 1987-88 STREETS OVERLAY

WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad,
California, for the 1987-88 Streets Overlay and Chip Seal
Program; and
WHEREAS, the lowest responsive bid received for the project
was submitted by South Coast Asphalt Products Company of
Carlsbad, California, in the amount of $895,806.99; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in account number 001-820-5110-
2412 for this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The bid of $895,806.99 by South Coast Asphalt
Products Company of Carlsbad, California, for the 1987-88 Streets
Overlay and Chip Seal Program, Contract No. U/M-16, is hereby
accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to
execute a contract therefor.
