ITEM EXPLANATION Carl Karcher of Anaheim is asking the the Carl's Jr. project be granted an exception from the requirements of the State of California Title 24 accessibility. The bathrooms at the project were originally built to conform to the handicap regulations. Subsequent changes to the regulation requires larger water closet stalls to provide transfer from the wheelchair side or front . To provide additional space at the side of the water closet would require relocating a stairwell wall, or an alternative to this would be to change the door swing in the toilet room which would cause the door to block the primary exit corridor. Approving the hardship request will still allow a wheelchair person to make a front transfer in both of the restrooms. FISCAL IMPACT None.
