Introduce Ordinance No..to establish a prima facie 35 mile per hour speed
limit on Hillside Drive, from Park Drive to Neblina Drive.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The City of Carlsbad Police Department requested that a prima facie speed limit
be established on the referenced portion of Hillside Drive. At the June 6, 1988
Traffic Safety Commission meeting, staff presented the results of a traffic and
engineering survey as required by the California Vehicle Code. Based upon the
results of the survey, the Commission recommended by a 3-0 vote that a 35 mile
per hour prima facie speed limit be established on Hillside Drive from Park Drive
easterly to Neblina Drive.
FISCAL IMPACT
Installing two (2) speed limit signs on street light standards will cost $110.00.

2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
3 OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10,
CHAPTER 10.44 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE
4 BY THE ADDITION OF SECTION 10.44.290 TO
ESTABLISH THE SPEED LIMIT ON HILLSIDE DRIVE
5 FROM PARK .DRIVE TO NEBLINA DRIVE.
6 The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as
,r follows:
8 Section 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is
9 amended by the addition of Section 10.44.290 to read as follows:
10 1110.44.290 Hillside Drive: Upon Hillside Drive from Park Drive to
11 its intersection with Neblina Drive the prima facie speed limit shall
be thirty-five miles per hour."

EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after
13
its adoption and the City Clerk, City of Carlsbad shall certify to the adoption
14
of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least once in the Carlsbad
15
Journal within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
16 INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of said City Council held
17 on the 12th _ _ day of July 1988, and thereafter,
18 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad
