RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Accept Grant Funds of Seven Hundred Dollars ($700.00) from the Southern
California Tennis Association.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The Recreation Department has received a Seven Hundred Dollar ($700 .OO)
Grant from the Southern California Tennis Association to help augment the
Youth Tennis Day Camp Program July 25 - 29, 1988.
available in cooperation with the United States Tennis Association and
UNOCAL to provide seed money grants to deserving Youth Tennis Programs.
Funding is made
A Letter of Appreciation will be sent on behalf of the Parks and Recreation
Commission and City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Seven Hundred Dollars ($700.00) will be deposited into Account Number
800-519-921 0-000 (Recreation Special Events).

The United States Tennis Association and UNOCAL are -thg with us in a joint effort to provide seed mney
grants to deserving youth tennis program.
We are asking programs selected to receive funds to rrake
every effort to give the Sa, the USTA, and UNOCAL visibility through newspap!=r articles and program literature. Additionally, we encourage you to have your juniors join the USTA and becume active menhers of the SCFA permitting them to participte in sanctioned taurnaments and league play. We also request that you mhit a year-end report to the SCTA office detail- the success of your program, and how the grant funris were qmt.

On behalf of the Carlsbad Parks and Recreation Commission and
City Council, we would like to extend our appreciation for the
Grant funds received in the amount of $700.00 from SCTA.
The funds will be utilized to enhance the Recreation Departments
Youth Tennis Day Camp. The SCTA’s Junior Development program
is to be commended for providing our youth with this opportunity
to enjoy and expand their potential within the sport of tennis.
