RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Introduce Ordinance No A/5--12 to establish a prima facie 40 mile per hour speed
limit on Faraday Avenue, from E1 Camino Real to College Boulevard.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
At the August 1, 1988 Traffic Safety Commission meeting, staff presented the
results of a traffic and engineering survey as required by tle California Vehicle
Code to estabish a prima facie speed limit. Based upon the results of the survey,
the Commission recommended by a 3-0 vote that a 40 mile per hour prima facie speed
limit be established on Faraday Avenue from E1 Camino Real westerly to College
Boulevard.

ORDINANCE NO. NS-33
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10,
CHAPTER ;0.44 OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE
BY THE ADDITION OF SECTION 10.44.320 TO
ESTABLISH THE SPEED LIMIT ON FARADAY AVENUE
FROM EL CAMINO REAL TO COLLEGE BOULEVARD.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as
follows:
Section 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is
amended by the addition of Section 10.44.320 to read as follows:
"10.44.320 Faraday Avenue: Upon Faraday Avenue from E1 Camino Real
to its intersection with College Boulevard the prima facie speed
limit shall be forty miles per hour."
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after
its adoption and the City Clerk, City of Carlsbad shall certify to the adoption
of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least once in the Carlsbad
Journal within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of said City Council held
on the. 23rd day of August 1988, and thereafter,
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad
City Council held on the 6th day of September , 1988 by the following vote,
to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Pettine, Mamaux and Larson
