RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Staff recommends the Council adopt Resolution No. tff-f.11
authorizing the sale of unclaimed bicycles to the Carlsbad Hi-
Noon Rotary Club.
ITEK EXPLAHATIOH:
The Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Club would like to assist the Oceansid7 Rotary Club in a Christmas project for the children in Oceansides
sister city, Ensenada, MeKico. On August 19, 1988, the Board of
Directors of the Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary unanimously voted to
purchase 30 of Carlsbad's unclaimed bicycles for $7.00 each. After
purchasing the bicycles, the Carlsbad Rotary will donate them to the
Oceanside Club where they will be repaired before taking them to the
children in Ensenada at Christmas time.
Presently, the Police Department has approximately 60 unclaimed
bicycles in storage. After the Rotary purchases 30 bicycles, the
remaining bicycles will be held in storage until a auction is held.
The list of the unclaimed bicycles is shown in Exhibit "A".
FISCAL IMPACT:
The amount received from the sale of the unclaimed bicycles will be
deposited in the general fund of the City.

Thank you for extending to the carlbad Hi-Noon Rotary Club the
opportunity to purchase the city's unclaimed b~cycles. The
oceanside Rotary Club has an ongoing program in which it
refurbishes old bicycles and donates them to needy children in
Mexico. It is an outstanding program and the Carlsbad Hi-Noon
Rotary Club would like to support Oceanside in its project.
on Aug. 19 the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary
Club unanimously voted to accept your offer to purchase the
unclaimed bicycles. The Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Club will in turn
donate the bicycles to the Oceanside Rotary Club for its ongoing
program.
I will contact Grace Manues to work out the details of this
transaction.
Again, thank you for the opportunity to purchase the bicycles and
participate in a worthwhile project.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIF'ORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE SALE
OF UNCLAIMED BICYCLES TO THE CARLSBAD HI-NOON
ROTARY CLUB.
6 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of
7 Carlsbad, California as follows:
8 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has
9 determined certain bicycles are unclaimed; and
10 WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to the City of Carlsbad to
ll sell thirty (30) unclaimed bicycles to the Carlsbad Hi-Noon
12 Rotary Club.
13 Now, Therefore Be It Resolved by the City Council of the
14 City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
