AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR CO OF IMPROVEMENTS TO PARK DRIVE AND
MARINA DRIVE, PROJECT NO. 3216
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 68 - 34/ accepting bids and awarding a
contract for the construction of improvements to Park and Marina Drives and the Park Drive 1911 Act Assessment District.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On August 2, 1988, the City Council adopted a resolution
approving plans, specifications and contract documents and
authorizing the advertisement of bids for the construction of
the Cityls improvements to Park and Marina Drives and the Park
Drive 1911 Act Assessment District. On August 31, 1988, three
(3) sealed bids were received as follows:
Daley Corporation $ 149,698.40 R. E. Hazard Construction, Incorporated 171,246.00 ABC Construction, Incorporated 179,441.00
References have been verified for the low bidder and staff
recommends the award of this project to the Daley Corporation.
Construction is anticipated to begin in late September and require approximately sixty (60) days for completion.
This project involves the installation of street improvements including curb, gutter, sidewalk, street lights , drainage
improvements, retaining walls, and intersection modifications to Park and Marina Drives. Additionally , three (3) adjacent
parcells frontage improvements comprise the balance of the work
for the Assessment District portion of the project.
All right-of-way required for this project has been previously obtained as well as Council review of environmental and general
plan consistency approvals for this project.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND
AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF IMPROVEMENTS TO PARK AND MARINA DRIVES AND THE PARK DRIVE 1911 ACT ASSESSMENT DISTRICT
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad
for the construction of the improvements to Park and Marina
lrives and the Park Drive 1911 Act Assessment District; and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for said project was
submitted the Daley Corporation in the amount of $149,698.40;

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has
previously appropriated sufficient funds in Account No. 3216 for
the construction of said project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad hereby
finds it necessary, desirable and in the public interest to
proceed with the construction of said improvements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That a bid submitted by the Daley Corporation in

the amount of $149,698.40 for said project is hereby accepted.

3. That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
and directed to execute a contract thereafter.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad at its regular meeting held on the 20th day
of September , 1988, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Pettine, Mamaux and Larson
