RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. a3y#accepting bids and awarding a contri
for the Carlsbad Swim Complex Deck Repairs, Project No. 3271.
ITEM EXPLANATION
On March 22, 1988, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 88. approving plans, specifications, and contract documents i
authorized the advertisement of bids for the Carlsbad SI
Complex Deck Repairs. The formal bid opening date for tl
project was set for April 7, 1988. However, no bids wc received and staff recommended the readvertisement of bids in 1
Fall. This timeframe was established to enable the Parks i
Recreation Department to continue uninterrupted Summer use of . Swim Complex.
On October 7, 1988, four (4) sealed bids were received follows:
1. ROCA Construction Company, Inc. $ 61,291.00
2. Parry Construction 63,742.00
3. S. J. Skerritt Construction Company, Inc. 70,716.00
4. Nadar, Inc. 88,440.00
References have been verified on the low bidder and st,
Construction Company, Incorporated.
This project includes removal and replacement of a seven foot section around the deck. Additionally, all rusted < deteriorated steel will be removed and replaced.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND GENERAL PLAN CONSISTENCY REQUIREMENTS
This repair work is categorically exempt from environmen.
review requirements. The Planning Commission, in October, 19,
found this project to be consistent with Carlsbad General Plan
recommends award of the construction of the project to RI
FISCAL IMP=
Funds in the amount of $250,000 have been appropriated for project in the 1987-88 Capital Improvement Program budget are available in the project account number 191-820-1821-3271.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF CARLSBAD SWIM COMPLEX DECK REPAIRS
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Car:
for construction of the Carlsbad Swim Complex Deck Re:
Project No. 3271; and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for the constructic
said project was submitted by ROCA Construction Corn
Incorporated, in the amount of $61,291.00; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the project ac
number 191-820-1821-3271 for the construction of this pro
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carl
California, hereby declares it necessary, desirable and il
public interest to construct the aforementioned project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Counc:
