ITEM EXPLANATION:
At the November 7, 1988 meeting of the Traffic Safety Commission, staff
presented a recommendation of the Traffic Safety Coordinating Committee to
lower the existing 45 mile per hour prima facie speed on Palomar Airport Road
to 35 miles per hour between Carlsbad Boulevard and Paseo Del Norte. Results
of the traffic and engineering survey conducted by staff to establish the prima
facie speed limit was presented to the Commission. By a 4-0 vote, the Traffic
Safety Commission recommended that the prima facie speed limit on Palomar
Airport Road from Carlsbad Boulevard to Paseo Del Norte be established at 35
miles per hour.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Three speed limit signs and posts will cost $375.00.

ORDINANCE NO. NS-47
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER 10.44 OF THE
CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE REVISION OF SECTION
•10.44.170 TO LOWER THE SPEED LIMIT ON PALOMAR AIRPORT
ROAD BETWEEN CARLSBAD BOULEVARD AND PASEO DEL NORTE.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, hereby ordains as
follows:
Section 1: That Title 10, Chapter 10.44 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code is
amended by the revision of Section 10.44.170 to read as follows:
'10.44.170 Palomar Airport Road. (a) Upon Palomar Airport Road from
Carlsbad Boulevard to its intersection with Paseo Del Norte, the prima facie
speed limit shall be thirty-five miles per hour."
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after
its adoption and the City Clerk, City of Carlsbad sh
all certify to the adoption
of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least once in the Carlsbad
Journal within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of said City Council held
on the 6th day of December a 1988 and thereafter,
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Carlsbad
City Council held on the 13th day of December 1986 by the following vote,
to wit:
AYES: Council Members Lewis, Kulchin, Pettine, Mamaux and Larson
NOES: None
ABSENT: None ,
