RECOMMENDED ACTION:
If Council concurs, adopt Resolution No. 84-4cb5
accepting bids and awarding Contract No. 37031 for irrigation installation at lower Buena Vista School athletic field to the Heffler Company in the amount of
$21,000.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
On October 4, 1988 the City Council approved plans and specifications for irrigation projects and authorized advertising of bids. Four (4) sealed bids were received on November 21, 1988 as follows: TOTAL BID
1. Clay Warner Plumbing
2. Heffler Company
3. Schelden Construction
4. Lindo Engineering

It has been determined the low bidder, Clay Warner Plumbing did not possess the appropriate State
Contractors license to perform this project. Therefore,
references for the 2nd low bidder were checked and are
considered satisfactory. Staff recommends award of this
contract to Heffler Company.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for the irrigation phase of Buena Vista field
improvements has been financed with State Grant money.
The 1986 State of California Park Bond Act funds will be used to provide for the above improvements. Monies in the amount of $25,000 have been designated for this pro j ect .

RESOLUTION NO. 88-432
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARLSBAD, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR
IRRIGATION INSTALLATION AT LOWER BUENA VISTA SCHOOL ATHLETIC
'IELD TO THE HEFFLER COMPANY IN THE AMOUNT OF $21,000
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has
ipproved the improvement project for the lower Buena Vista
lchool athletic field and,
WHEREAS, financing for the improvement project has been
ipproved through the 1986 Park Bond Act and,
WHEREAS, funds have been received by the City of Carlsbad
rrom the State of California to finance this project and,
WHEREAS, plans, specifications, contract documents and
iuthorization to advertise for bids for irrigation installation
it lower Buena Vista athletic field have previously been
ipproved and,
WHEREAS, bids for this project have been received and
!valuated to determine which bid will represent the City's best
mterest :
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
!ity of Carlsbad, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the Heffler Company represents the City's best
tnterest for the installation of irrigation at lower Buena Vista
ichool.
3. The award for this project completion shall be awarded
:o the Heffler Company in the amount of $21,000.
