RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution No. 89+\9 accepting the construction of t beach access stairway at 2701 Ocean Street, Project No. 3263, complete, and directing the City Clerk to record the Notice Completion.
ITEM EXPLANATION:
The construction of retaining walls, sidewalks, stairs, a handrailing for a beach access stairway on Ocean Street nc Beech Avenue has been satisfactorily completed. The new stain replaces an eroded dirt path that was blocked at its base large boulders. This project was constructed in cooperation w: the California Coastal Conservancy with a grant in the amount
$52,050.
One (1) change order in accordance with the provisions Administrative Policy number 7 in the amount of $4,999 executed with the contractor to add additional concr structures. These included a pad for a trash can, a stem wall protect an adjacent property owner's rock rip-rap, and additio steps to reach the sand during its seasonally low level.
Some of the handrailing was eliminated by the additional s wall and less imported fill was used than originally anticipa resulting in a savings of $1,142 from the awarded bid on th items. Thus, the net increase in construction costs was $3,85
All City costs for this project are reimbursable under the tc of an agreement with the California Costal Conservancy up to maximum grant amount of $52,050. City staff is preparing documentation required by the Coastal Conservancy reimbursement to the City.
Staff recommends acceptance of the public improvements authorization to record the Notice of Completion.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The City Council has previously appropriated $30,000 of Gen Capital Construction Funds and $52,050 of California Coa Conservancy Grant Funds to the respective project account nun
300-820-1840-3263 and 180-820-8122-3263.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF A BEACH ACCESS STAIRWAY AT OCEAN STREET, PROJECT NO. 3263, AS COMPLETE
WHEREAS, the construction of the beach access stairw:
2701 Ocean Street has been satisfactorily completed: and
WHEREAS, all project costs are established.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council o
